In the 1970s, King Tubby changed music forever. Starting as a radio repair technician, he built and modified sound systems that defined Jamaica’s dancehall scene. But his biggest impact came in the studio—where he transformed mixing into an art form, pioneering dub as a genre.

Tubby’s genius lay in remixing existing tracks, stripping them down, and adding deep echoes, reverb slams, and thunderous bass to create new, immersive soundscapes. His work influenced Lee "Scratch" Perry, Scientist, Mad Professor, and generations of producers worldwide.
