Reggae & Dub Mastering by Dubmatix

Two-time JUNO Award-winning producer. 20+ years of mastering. Hundreds of projects worldwide.

Over the past 20 years, tracks mastered at Renegade Studios have reached thousands of radio programs, sound systems, and publications worldwide. They've been supported by BBC Radio's David Rodigan, Don Letts, Annie Mac, and Craig Charles; CBC Radio; Rolling Stone; Billboard; and Irie Magazine, and include the #1 album on the Global Reggae Charts. Clients range from Grammy and JUNO Award winners to independent artists releasing their first single.

Reggae and dub are my specialty: weight in the low end, space in the mix, and punch that translates from headphones to a full sound system. I also master soul, jazz, funk, hip hop, rock, electronic, folk and world music.

I listen closely to every track, suggest improvements, and don't stop until you're happy.

"Mastering a song with Dubmatix is not only his professional and heavy sound which is guaranteed but his suggestions on the mix have often lifted some pieces that needed that extra spice. A kind man with a great heart for creating sound and always being clear on what could be added to some frequencies or instruments! After a year of working with Dubmatix I can say I learned a lot as a producer. So thanks brother!!!"

How It Works

  1. Send your track. Share a WAV file via WeTransfer, Dropbox or a similar service.
  2. Mix analysis. I listen for anything in the mix that needs attention or could be improved, and let you know before mastering.
  3. Test master. I send a test master so you can hear the direction. If the mix needs a tweak, we take the time to get it right.
  4. Final master. You get your finished master within 24–48 hours, with two revisions included.

FAQ

How loud will my master be?
Loud enough to compete, but not crushed. I master for impact and translation, not just volume. If you have a loudness target or a reference track, send it along.

Stereo mix or stems?
A stereo mix is standard. Stems give me more control if the mix has an issue that's hard to fix at the stereo stage.

What if I'm not happy?
Two revisions are included, and I work with you until the master is right.

Do you work outside reggae?
Yes. I've mastered soul, jazz, funk, hip hop, rock, electronic, folk and traditional Indonesian recordings.
